Yesterday was one of our first days shopping for a beach front condominium for ourselves and two other sets of friends from the states who have come to love Costa Rica as much as we do.  PS:  Communal purchasing of a beach property makes great sense , if you're not planning on living at the beach or in Costa Rica full time.   We have been in a cooperative purchase once  before with great success and each of the 3 partners took turns on the annual calendar, sharing our own time and rental income. 

Since moving to Costa Rica, our choice has always been the Central Valley, Escazu, Costa Rica for our Year-Round Residence with the beach as a weekend/holiday residence.

Actually, It's  a great time to purchase beach property before high season in Costa Rica.  Without doubt,  the global economy has also had it's impact here  with some U.S. buyers who found themselves over-extended and now have to sell their dream beach house at greatly under-valued pricing.  As we found out yesterday, there are indeed incredible options currently on the market.

Take the Bull by the Horns--Re-Think Your Lifestyle/Retirement in Costa Rica

Perhaps what I love most about living in Costa Rica, are the unexpected daily events that make living in Costa Rica  "An Adventure"

This morning while hiking with my friend, Debby in the Escazu mountains, we were charged by a bull being prepared for his Oxcart.  Our horned friend was having nothing to do with carrying the load of the  wooden cart, much preferring his freedom in the pasture.  Who can blame him?   An interesting metaphor that perhaps symbolizes why in the current economy, moving to Costa Rica is an option for those re-examining their retirement options.

Fortunately, which somehow always seems to be the case in Costa Rica, the aid of our friendly, Costa Rican neighbors was at hand. As the two gringas did their best  to "zig-zag" this Red Bull full of energy,  a  local village family gave us refuge inside of their house.  Deb and  I and the local family then watched the handler try to take the bull by the horns!  I must say I will keep my day job! Not for the faint of heart!   I felt my heart begin to race and then in utter amazement thought to myself "WOW! This sure beats sitting in traffic".  And so begins a typical day in paradise.

I returned home after my hike and "run with the bulls" to my  Costa Rica virtual office, complete with wireless on the veranda and of course the best coffee in the world.
Why is Costa Rica my home?   Why do I still live here after more than 10 years?
Because "Running with the Bulls" and "Living in Costa Rica" makes you feel very much alive.
