I Knew It! Costa Rica is the Happiest Place in the World!

As I arrived at this year's Annual Creative Problem Solving Institute Conference in Boston, I met with a dear colleague and friend from South Africa.  As I greeted my like minded creative sister, I met with unexpected yet somehow expected  news.   My friend, Marlies  advised me that she has just attended a Happiness Conference in Philadelphia.  The big news?   By the latest research instruments available in the "Happiness Field" Costa Rica is the happiest country on the planet.   

I knew it!  I just knew it!  Details to follow on the research qualifiers on happiness,  for my left brained researchers but a "heart question"   How does one and you measure happiness?  Is it perhaps time for a life lift to laugh more and worry less? Time to explore a new path and focus  at last on you in a secluded paradise in Costa Rica ?

"Watching, Getting me Out of Here" in Boston

Okay I just had to watch!  Couldn't help myself.  It's that inability to look away (at a dissected frog in biology class or a roadway accident)   Tonight is  my first night back in the states, after weeks in beautiful Costa Rica, that I hated to leave but am now snuggled in my delightful Dream Bed in the Boston Hilton. What can I say? Life is contrasts! 

So here  I am preparing to present two programs at the International Creativity Conference. (www.cpsiconference.com) So I left my paradise today in Costa Rica , turn on the TV in Boston  and I 'm watching the reality show , filmed in Costa Rica that has plopped wanna be and has been celebrities in the jungle I call home-

The Title of the Show ""I'm a Celebrity"  Get me Out of Here'  

Yes, the country they are talking about is Costa Rica.  News Flash:  We run to it/Not from it.

Special Note:  to Show producers :  While you're at it, please  get Mel Gibson out of here    Mel lives part of the year here in Costa Rica and in my books, has not contributed much to the country other than bad tabloid profiles.   True, I'm basing this  on bad publicity (But Mel you  are a  great actor and could be a voice/advocate for Costa Rica, I'll even forgive that bad remark about the jewish community however for God's sake.....hire a handler,   better pr agent and clean up your image) You've got to give to get.   Yes, life should be private and  joyous seclusion,  particularly in Costa Rica, but everyone of us expats need to give back to a country that gives us so much.

Call me on my U.S. cell personally  239-910-3354  if you  want to do something truly good for the children, abandoned animals or protection of the rainforest in Costa Rica.   Flip your Image!     You have my word,  I'll make every dollar count in this truly beautiful country that you enjoy so much  and I won't hear stories like I did today at the San Jose  airport about your defensive comments  about "Bad PR"

Mel Mad Max Gibson: Please Be a  model of a Costa Rica  expat/celebrity who wants and deserves a private life in a beautiful country, but  also wants to give back in  a private way to those in the country you consider home, who are also most in need.

As for the Reality Show Observations----"Get me Out of Here"  My take is "Get that mean model out of there".  I want to send her to my charm school/communication class.

Also, the group could use a few more real "survival challenges" but recognize this is not day to day Costa Rica.  In fact, I am hoping my global faculty coming in August is not trembling after watching the show and wondering what tests I will put them to.   Your lodging will be a bit more upscale than the digs you see in the camp.

 Balcony Birding into the Canopy at Finca Caballo Loco

Attention All Early Birds & Bird Lovers

 

This lovely horse farm near El Rodeo and University for Peace sits above a river canyon allowing looks into the tops of towering trees in an old growth forest. For those who wish to relax and bird watch from the beautifully decorated, open-air balcony, you will be treated to a rare opportunity of looking down into the canopy.

For those who want a little exercise as well as bird watching, our guide Patrick O'Donnell, will lead us on some hilly trails (that we can take at our leisure), through a wonderfully diverse terrain of open fields and forests, into territory we have yet to explore as the Birding Club of Costa Rica.
Around 9:00am our host Krysia Peterson, will provide a plentiful breakfast buffet with coffee or tea, fresh OJ, assorted fruits, pancakes with bacon or sausages, muffins and bagels.

We will have a short Annual Meeting following breakfast, after which anyone who would like to stay on to bird, hike or horseback ride is invited to do so. Bring friends.
